Online Linguistic Support (OLS) for Refugees

Erasmus+ Online Linguistic SupportThe Erasmus+ Online Linguistic Support (OLS) helps Erasmus+ participants improve their knowledge of the language in which they will work, study or volunteer abroad, so that they can make the most of their experience.

The scheme has now been extended to refugees to facilitate integration into Europe’s education and training systems. The OLS can be used at any time from a computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. The OLS language courses include a variety of self-paced modules covering different linguistic areas, as well as “Live Coaching” interactive activities (online MOOCs, tutoring sessions and forums).

The participation in this initiative is voluntary. In the participating countries, the access to the OLS is granted to refugees who wish to improve their knowledge of one of the languages available in the OLS (Czech, Danish, German, Greek, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese and Swedish) by an Erasmus+ beneficiary institution/organisation that has decided to take part.

A fun educational game: “Europe Matters – A Question of Values”

Europe mattersBring pupils from age 8 to 12 closer to Europe’s shared values: freedom of expression, a fair justice system, gender equality, abolition of the death penalty, free elections, diversity/non-discrimination.
Have fun taking up challenges as a team and holding discussions, while testing your knowledge on democracy and human rights.

The game “Europe Matters – a Question of Values” is available free of charge in a PDF, a paper and a web application version.

The game is available in English, German and French.

The booklet contains a “goose game” for pupils at the end of primary school and the beginning of secondary school (8-12 year olds) and pages with instructions on how to prepare to play this game of discovery, as well as supplementary information. It enables a class to engage in a shared recreational activity, while at the same time reflecting on the key values that enable people to live together in society.

Although the game can also be adapted to small groups of two or more players, it has mainly been designed for school classes, under the guidance of a teacher.
